BOZEMAN - Congressman Denny Rehberg's big announcement last weekend stirs the pot of politics in Montana.

Montana State University Political Science professor David Parker says this shift in who's running for what is not very common, and he's anxious for the 2012 election season.

"This is unusual to have all these events happen at the same time, at one moment. So, the fact that you've got Rehberg jumping over just creates this big opportunity for everyone else. So, it is a little usual and it's exciting at the same time, this probably wouldn't happen in a state like California."

Parker added that this U.S. Senate race will gain a lot of national attention as the Republicans try to win the majority in the U.S. Senate in 2012.
