MISSOULA - A recent report ranks Montana second in the nation when it comes to highway performance and cost-effectiveness.

Montana's best rankings come in urban interstate congestion and maintenance disbursements while the state's lowest rankings are in fatality rates, where we rank 50th in the nation. The other low point is in urban interstate condition, where Montana ranks 30th.

The state improved by three spots from last year's report, which was conducted by the Reason Foundation, a nonprofit organization, which produces public policy research on a variety of issues and publishes the critically acclaimed Reason magazine.
