Multiple stab wounds in Butte homicide case

BUTTE - The victim of a weekend stabbing death sustained multiple stab wounds of which more than one could of been fatal according to Butte-Silver Bow Coroner Lee LaBreche.

Detectives in Butte are contining to investigate the weekend stabbing death of a 62-year-old local man. Robert Ray Bajzer was found dead early Sunday morning according to Police Captain Doug Conway.

A passing motorist found Bajzer's body at 124-126 West Park Street in Uptown Butte just after midnight and when officers arrived on scene, they blocked off West Park Street between Montana and South Dakota streets.

Conway said police are investigating the incident as a homicide. A person was seen fleeing the area of Bajzer's body traveling west toward Montana Street.

Conway says the fleeing individual was possibly wearing a dark colored hooded jacket or sweatshirt. Police consider this individual to be a person of interest in the investigation.

Police are asking that anyone who had contact with Bajzer from noon on Saturday, Feb. 12 until the time his body was discovered please contact the police. Conway says they are trying to gain more information on Bajzer's whereabouts and what he was doing before his death.

Anyone who witnessed the incident on West Park Street or saw anyone fleeing from the area around 12:13 a.m. on Sunday is asked to please contact the police to provide that information.
