MISSOULA - U.S. Army Sergeant First Class Darren Linde became the 43rd name to join the Grateful Nation Montana Fallen Soldier Memorial on Tuesday.
The memorial, located on the University of Montana campus, is a tribute to Montana soldiers who have paid the ultimate price in service of our country in Afghanistan and Iraq. Linde's name, branch, rank, and years lived were engraved in granite at memorial.
Grateful Nation Montana President David Bell saying that the monument holds importance for the family, veterans, and the community at large.
"For those of us in the civilian community, it's a place to come and pay our respects and honor the sacrifice of those that put the uniform on, that go to the some of the harshest places in the world and protect our freedom," Bell explained.
The Grateful Nation Memorial recently became the official state memorial to the Afghanistan and Iraq wars.
