LIBBY- St. John's Lutheran Hospital has received the green light for a $32 million loan to build a new hospital to open in 2012.
The U.S. Housing and Urban Development Department contacted the hospital Wednesday morning to announce they will loan them the money for a new facility.
The new hospital will be located just north from the current site, will be 79,000 square feet, and will have room for future growth and updated technology.
A board member for the hospital says a new facility will better serve the community by attracting new physicians to the area.
Kerry Beasley, a St. John's Lutheran Hospital Board of Trustees member, said it's good news for the people the hospital will take care of.
"It was really about our community members that we're serving through this new facility," Beasley said.
A groundbreaking for the new hospital should be sometime this Fall, with the grand opening expected to be in spring 2014.
