BIGFORK - Another major building project in the Flathead is following in the footsteps of Flathead Lake Lodge's go-green development.
The Saddlehorn housing development just outside of Bigfork is striving to be fully-certified by Leadership in Energy and Environmental design (LEED).
The LEED program certifies buildings that follow sustainable, energy efficient construction pre-requisites.
Saddlehorn's Welcome Cabin has a platinum rating, was built out of recycled materials and natural resources that came off the land.
"There is a natural beauty out there that needs to be preserved, and I think you can see that in everything we do. In our management style at the Lodge and Saddlehorn, we do everything we can to minimize impact," Saddlehorn's Doug Averill explained.
Saddlehorn can hold 96 cabins in the subdivision, and Averill says all the structures will have platinum ratings.
