MISSOULA - Missoula Parks and Recreation opened a new access ramp for boaters leaving the water in downtown Missoula.

The landing is west of Osprey Stadium on the new 15-acre waterfront Silver Park.

The boat ramp is designated only for take out. Launching from Silver Park would be dangerous because of several hazards downstream like a diversion dam and shallow water.

The new boat landing is the last place for boaters and rafters to leave the Clark Fork before the Grass Valley diversion dam more than five miles downstream.

Swimming is not allowed on the river off Silver Park because of fast currents and deep water.
