MISSOULA - A world class facility focusing on the science and study of human movement opened at the University of Montana on Friday.
The Biomechanics Laboratory will be under the direction of a UM researcher, and is housed in the basement of the Washington Education Center.
The lab includes advanced research equipment, some of which can only be found in a handful of labs around the world.
"We've tried to put in place a facility where they could receive the kind of training that I received at this university, and go and be leaders in the field once they've finished and be able to essentially do whatever it is that they want to do," Biomechanics Laboratory Director Matthew Bundle explained.
The measurement capabilities of this new lab will make UM a global leader in the field of biomechanics.
