KALISPELL - Horse racing will once again not be a part of the Northwest Montana Fair, according to the Kalispell All Breed Turf Club.

The club sites financial difficulty, despite applying for five days of horse racing this summer.

Citing a short time frame to raise money for the cost of the event, spokesperson Ron Thibert says it makes things more difficult because Flathead County has not helped with costs in the past several years.

Another wrinkle in the request was competition for racing days from the Montana Board of Horse Racing.

Other Montana fairs that have decided against hosting horse racing include Missoula and Billings.
