MISSOULA - Authorities say that nobody was hurt after a helicopter crashed into the Clark Fork River west of Missoula on Friday afternoon.
The chopper went down just off Big Flat Road, hitting the water near the confluence of the Clark Fork and Bitterroot rivers.
Missoula Rural Fire District crews are working to reach the accident scene, which has very limited access because of the various river channels and low-lying country in that area.
Authorities say the pilot was the only one on board the chopper when it went down and landed upright in the water. River rescue teams managed to reach the man and bring him back to shore.
Firefighters say the Bell helicopter isn't leaking any fuel into the river.
