FRENCHTOWN- Plumes of black smoke are filling the Missoula Valley as a fire burns at the former Smurfit Stone Mill site in Frenchtown. Our reporter says you could see flames from multiple levels of the mill while an EMT at the scene told us there appear to be no injuries.
The smoke is very dark, but the Missoula Rural Sheriff's Department could not comment on whether or not the smoke is hazardous. Bystander vehicles were not allowed to park next to the plant entrance due to health concerns.
It is unknown what caused the fire and we were told people have been working on the site within the last couple of weeks. Earlier this month fire officials responded to another fire at the site.
We'll have more on this developing story as information becomes available.
