BUTTE- NorthWestern Energy needs to start producing a lot more renewable energy soon, and is asking for help.
The company must offer up to 45 megawatts of renewable power from community owned projects, to state customers in 2013 under Montana statutes.
The state law does say that the projects must be cost-effective, so Northwestern is asking for local developers to submit ideas that might provide that home-grown, renewable power for Montanans, beginning next year.
