GARRISON- A small fire, burning roughly 15 miles north of the junction between Interstate 90 and Highway 12 at Garrison, will be tough to fight, according to a press release from the Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation.
Lightning set off the Wet Cottonwood fire, which was first reported Wednesday, and is at an estimated to be at least 25 acres.
Firefighters say the remote location, incoming storm and dry, dead timber could combine to make things worse.
Three helicopters, two hotshot crews, 10 smokejumpers and a 20-man Montana State Prison crew is responding.
Officials ask the public to avoid traveling along Brock Creek Road unless necessary, and to slow down and use headlights in the area.
