An old railroad building' has been transported from one Montana town to another on Wednesday. The building was hauled from Trident, to Milwaukee Park in the heart of Three Forks this morning.
The historic society spoke with the Montana Rail Link about using the depot, built back in 1911, as a museum instead of demolishing it, and the MRL gave the Three Forks historical society the go ahead.
The depot used to be a passenger and freight stop back in Trident, and many Three Forks natives worked in Trident and utilized the depot often.
The museum will feature mostly railroad paraphernalia that will be transferred from the Headwaters Heritage Museum in Three Forks. The depot will not be completely transformed for about four years according to Larry Wilcox, the project manager.
Wilcox mentioned that the museum is funded solely by donations, and the community has been supportive thus far. A donation of any amount is welcomed. Those that donate $100 or more will be eligible for an engraved memorial brick that can feature their name, or can be engraved in memory of someone else.
