CLINTON - Band students at Clinton School are hitting some high notes over their new music software, thanks to this week's "One Class at a Time" Grant.

Music Teacher David Smith says his students are really engaged with the new program. It's called "Smart Music" and it's very similar to "Guitar Hero," but it's even more versatile.

The software is designed to accompany any instrument and at varying level with thousands of songs to play along with. Students also receive immediate feedback to see if they are hitting the right notes.

On behalf of Allegiance Benefit Plan Management and Montana's News Station, General Manager Bob Hermes presented Mr. Smith with the check.

The Band Teacher says he teaches over 300 students and having the new software will be like having a teacher's aid in the classroom.

"They don't need me as much when they're working with that. I get to work with the kids at the same time and that's a very big thing because the beginning band, especially, is individualized and it allows me to be in more places at once. And I like that."
