ST. REGIS- This week's One Class at a Time Grant couldn't come at a better time for St. Regis School.
"It would have taken half of my classroom budget for the year to get one set of book, if it hadn't been for this," sixth grade teacher Diane Gingerich said.
Her students say they love the characters and the suspense of "The Egypt Game" novel, yet the paperback books don't hold up very well.
Often a third, or even half, of the classroom set has to be replaced each year and this week's One Class At A Time grant will go toward purchasing hard bound books, which should last much longer.
"The Egypt Game" incorporates english, language and social studies into one book and Gingerich says her students love reading it.
"Every year, this book when I ask at then end of the lesson, 'did you like this book or did you not like the book?" They all love it. I've yet to have a student say they didn't like it. And they all say, 'you are going to teach it again aren't you?' So, they do love it
