ARLEE - The sixth annual Peace Fstival was held at Ewam's Garden of 1,000 Buddhas site on Saturday, marking 100 years of homesteading and allotment on the Flathead Indian Reservation.

Several speakers and tribal representatives joined a panel discussion at the festival to address social and cultural changes in Montana.

Attendees were also able to view the progress that has been made on the Garden of 1,000 Buddhas project, which first started back in 2,000. Once the 1,000 Buddhas are complete, the Dalai Lama will visit Montana to consecrate the garden.

"People may argue about the way to get peace, but everyone wants peace so that's why we're here today," Peace Festival Coordinator Georgia Milan explained. "We have people of interfaith coming to talk about social problems and spiritual solutions"

While the Peace Festival has wrapped up, you can still visit the sacred grounds year round. Professional tours are offered at Ewam's Garden of 1,000 Buddhas every Saturday at 1 p.m.
