MISSOULA- The Missoula Phoenix played host to the Idaho Matadors on Saturday as they tried to even their record at 2-2, coming fresh off a 54-0 win.
The Phoenix were up 12-0 against the undefeated Idaho Matadors in the second when Idaho kept it going to Jerry Smith through the air, including that touchdown pass capped off by a glorious celebration. Idaho went up 13-12 with a touchdown in the second half.
Third quarter action saw the Phoenix trying to get something started, Shane Jurasek unloaded for Brandon Matano downfield and Matano, in double coverage, brought it in for his fourth touchdown in two weeks.
Missoula would try to turn that play into points, the immovable object of the line Cody New, applying the pass protection, but the line gives way from the right side. Juraske had some trouble finding the open man.
Missoula fell in a tough second half, 26-18.
