POLSON - A Polson man is in custody after being accused of raping and drowning an Elmo man earlier this year, and court documents reveal that the two men may have been cousins.
Melvin Madplume Jr. turned himself into authorities this Thursday morning, several days after a warrant was issued for his arrest-charging him with deliberate homicide, and sexual intercourse without consent.
Authorities were called to Wild Horse Hot Springs in Lake County last May, where 26-year-old Lawrence Kenmille was unconscious at the time.
Madplume said Kenmille, who later died at a Plains hospital, had fallen and hit his head. But a medical examiner determined the cause of death was actually drowning, and the manner of death was homicidal violence.
Madplume is currently being held on no bond.
