Polson man arrested for 2011 casino robbery

MISSOULA - Authorities have a arrested a Polson man and charged him with robbing the Grey Wolf Casino back in May of 2011.

Missoula County Sheriff's Office spokesman Jason Johnson says David Whaley, 31, is in custody in connection with the robbery that happened in the early morning hours of May 7, 2011.

The suspect entered the casino and demanded cash from the cashier while pointing a handgun at her and got away with nearly $9,000. But a security guard was able to get a vehicle description as the suspect fled the parking lot.

Johnson says Missoula County Senior Deputy Kenny White received some more information about the suspect and his vehicle last month, and worked with detectives to further the investigation.

A search warrant being issued and served at Whaley's Polson home on Wednesday and Johnson says he was arrested without incident.

Whaley is scheduled to appear in Missoula Justice Court on Thursday afternoon.
