HAVRE - An unidentified problem at a Western Area Power Administration substation has knocked out power to NorthWestern Energy's entire Havre District.
The utility's Butch Larcombe says the district stretches along the Hi-Line from Chester to east of Glasgow.
Larcombe says nearly 17,000 customers have been affected by the outage, which occurred at around 9:45 a.m. Friday.
Larcombe says power has been restored between Chinook and Glasgow, and crews are working on getting customers between Chester and Kremlin back on line.
Then they will concentrate on the Havre area. There is no timeline for when power will be fully restored.
Larcombe does not know the nature of the problem which caused the outage.
