KALISPELL- Smoke found its way back into the Flathead Valley, but this time it's mostly because of prescribed burns throughout the region. The smoke began rolling in over the weekend, with most of is showing up Sunday night.
Fire crews scheduled prescribed burns in anticipation of a forecast change bringing cool and wet weather to the valley later this week. There are between 15 and 20 prescribed burns in the region with 6 of those carrying smoke into the Flathead Valley.
One of those prescribed burns is the 2,000 acre Paint Emery South fire, burning near the Hungry Horse Reservoir. Another prescribed fire is 21 acres, burning north of Happy's Inn.
