CUT BANK- The Rim Rock wind project near Cut Banks is scheduled to be operational by October, but the project has been significantly scaled back.

NatureEner announced this week that the facility will be energized next month and they will be conducting tests of the 126 turbine project and hopes to be online by this fall.

The project started out as a 310 megawatt plant, but regulatory challenges resulted in a settlement and a much smaller project.

Rim Rock is now planned to produce 189 megawatts of electricity and NatureEner hopes to use the MATL line to get the energy to market.

However, the construction of the transmission line is delayed, so NatureEner is taking temporary measures to transmit the electricity to market.

The total cost of constructing the Rim Rock Project is estimated at $370 million.
