MISSOULA - Robin Pflugrad started talking about the biggest challenge of his first head coaching job on day one.
How do you replace one of the best senior classes ever to play for the Grizzlies? Well, the new man in charge started adding pieces on signing day, but he didn't stop there. Montana brought in many more talented players during the summer months, including one wide receiver with Pac-10 experience.
Antwon Moutra will move to Montana from UCLA. The 6'2" junior made two catches in two years for the Bruins, and wanted to transfer so he could get more playing time. Pflugrad already knew all about Moutra, and gladly added him to the Griz roster.
"I had a chance to recruit him at Oregon, and a real quality person. And again, with it being late in the recruiting process that's what we really look for. You know, obviously you're looking for talent," Pflugrad told us. "You know, he was not redshirted at UCLA. Boom, that's a good sign to me. UCLA wanted to look at him and look at him as a freshman."
Moutra is one of four wide receivers standing six foot two or taller that signed with the Grizzlies this year. Later, Pflugrad will tell us about another big drop-down transfer that could play a huge roll on the defensive line.
