CROW AGENCY- The Sarpy Hills Complex burning east of Crow Agency is about 50% contained. tonight.

Crews are putting out hot spots to keep the fire from spreading past the estimated 82,000 acres.
Some flare-ups and smoke are still on land south of Highway 212 and east of Crow Agency, and on other parts of the fire.

Fire management officials say the dry grass along with one of the driest years on record, have challenged the more than 600 firefighters. The Northern Rockies Type II team incident commander says much of the smoke is within the burned area.

"For the Sarpy Hills Complex, I feel really confident that we're on the downhill side with the exception of lightning forecast for tomorrow," said Bob Fry. "Those heavier fuels have a little smoke on them. I know they're going to smoke up today, but most of those were interior."

Fry says he expects firefighters to watching and putting out the small fires for a couple more days.
BIA fire information officer Jon Kohn says a lot of trees that have burned in the area will survive.
