DARBY- Several cowboys at the Elite Bull Connection in Darby were transported to Marcus Daily Hospital in Hamilton after being struck by lightning on Saturday evening.
Darby Mayor Rick Scheele says a storm rolled in just minutes before the 7 p.m. event, with sheets of rain sending spectators scurrying.
He says a bolt of lightning then hit the arena and that at least half a dozen participants and volunteers were injured.
Scheele says luckily EMT crews were standing by at the event and promptly provided medical attention, adding that no one was seriously injured.
The event has been rescheduled for Sunday at 1 p.m. in Darby and there is open seating.
