ST. IGNATIUS- Kids in St. Ignatius have put down the video games and picked up their skate boards just in time for a new park.

After only a month, construction wrapped up on phase two of the Skate Ignatius project which adds 3,500 ft2 to the existing 7,000 ft2.

Over the last few days, two huge donations were made to the project, completely paying it off. The Montana Skatepark Association donated $5,000 and an anonymous donor added $2,000.

Organizers say most of the donations have come from outside St. Ignaitus and add that hey are so thankful people support the kids.

"The people who are coming from Whitefish, Kalispell, Missoula, they're saying this is the premier park for Montana," said Kristie Nerby Skate Ignatius Project Coordinator.

"It's pretty easy, alls you got to do is just have confidence in yourself, believe in yourself, you know you got it," skater Adam Manseelah said.

"I think the kids like it, they're here everyday, the other older people that have come through from Missoula, it's one of their favorites in Montana," added Keenan Nerby.

This week a water fountain will be installed and benches and trash cans will be added to the park. The Recreation Coalition will also work to put in playground equipment in the future.

Tune in to Montana's News Station on Sunday for more from the skaters at Skate Ignatius.
