WHITEFISH - The tenth annual Ski Joring Championships are returning to Whitefish.
The signature winter carnival event combines a Montana-style winter extreme sport mix of two of Big Sky Country's favorites: horses and skiing.
It's the art of getting a horse to run a perfect circle, next to three ski jumps, all while towing a skier.
The opening ceremonies are set for 11:30 a.m. on Saturday at Whitefish Municipal Airport, and the ski joring events start at noon on both Saturday and Sunday.
There's no cost to watch the event, but there's a $5 per vehicle parking fee, with proceeds donated to the non-profit Human Therapy on Horseback.
