MISSOULA - It would take a lot more than a little smoke to keep Griz fans from coming out for the Homecoming game today.
Despite the smoke, tailgaters geared up before the game, celebrating with friends, family and other Griz fans over barbecue and cold beverages.
Many fans say the smoke has put a halt on many of their everyday activities, but they wouldn't think of missing a Griz game, especially homecoming.
Griz fan Adam Witt said he's been careful to avoid too much outdoor activity, but it wouldn't keep him from seeing the Griz.
"The smoke is definitely not gonna stop me from coming to the Griz game, but it's stopped me from going folfing, going outside. And you can just tell its super unhealthy," Witt said.
Another fan, Eliza McKinnin, said, "The smoke outside is definitely a concern my parents have called me from out of state being like, 'Oh, you shouldn't run outside, you shouldn't do any physical activity,' but I mean, I couldn't miss out for the Griz to score."
Despite health concerns regarding the smoke, Griz fans say rain, snow or smoke, game day is a priority.
