KALISPELL- The Flathead Valley saw its fair share of snowfall on Wednesday, especially during the afternoon. But the white stuff is mostly being measured in inches instead of feet. Whitefish saw the largest amount of precipitation, which led to a serious car accident just west of town.

Snow did fall in northwest Montana with some areas receiving more snow than others, such as Whitefish Mountain Resort or Blacktail Ski Area in Lakeside. The accumulations in Kalispell really didn't pick up until Wednesday afternoon, but they did begin to accumulate after a certain point in the day.

Whitefish received a good deal of snowfall even by early Wednesday morning, leaving shopkeepers to shovel more than 4" of the white stuff. And in Bad Rock Canyon near Hungry Horse, snowfall late Wednesday morning was not nearly as heavy, but it did remain steady.

Traffic flowed safely for the most part on Wednesday, but just west of Whitefish a teenage driver ran head on into a logging truck at around 10:30 a.m., destroying the teen's car. No one was seriously injured near Whitefish Hills and U.S. Highway 93, but the slick roads and speed of the teenagers vehicle played a role in the accident, which sent the logging truck into the ditch.

Snowplows worked around the clock in Kalispell, Whitefish and everywhere else in Northwest Montana, but more snow is anticipated into Thursday as well.

Steady, light snow is expected to continue throughout the Flathead Valley through Thursday and while southwestern Montana is expected to see freezing rain, northwest Montana should remain cold enough to see just snow.
