MISSOULA - It's a sure sign of winter - a popular Missoula ski hill opened for the season Friday.

Snowbowl staff had to postpone opening day, which was supposed to be Dec. 1, because of uncooperative weather, but the most recent system of moisture allowed for the top of the mountain to open as avid skiiers and snowboarders got to take to the hill.

While the best is still to come, just being out there again is exciting enough, said Snowbowl owner Ronnie Morris.

"Yeah we've had a lot of the pass holders and people that are really jonesing from probably May 1st on and they've had a good day," he said.

"We would've liked to have had more snow down at the base so we don't have to download, but it's pretty close, I mean we're talking inches not feet to get ways off the mountain."

Snow Bowl operating hours are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. More runs will continue to open throughout the winter as snow accumulates.
