HELENA- Lewis & Clark County Coroner Mickey Nelson has confirmed that the 27-year-old Helena man who was involved in a Tuesday afternoon snowmobiling accident has died.
The identity of the man has not yet been released, nor has the cause of death. He was riding with a friend at the base of Hogback Mountain when the accident occurred and the man suffered injuries after striking an overhang of snow and ice.
His friend went to O'Malley's to call for help and the Mercy Flight helicopter located the man shortly after 5 p.m. Several rescuers then rode into the site on snowmobiles.
Lewis & Clark Sheriff Leo Dutton said that the accident happened near Trout Creek in Sunshine Basin.
