A man has undergone surgery after being stabbed Friday evening in the town of Craig, about 40 miles north of Helena on Interstate 15.
The Lewis and Clark County Sheriff's Office tells us that two men were arguing and one man was stabbed above his right hip.
The man somehow managed to wind up in Cascade, several miles north of Craig. He was then transported to Benefis hospital in Great Falls by Mercy Flight for his injuries, which required surgery.
The other man involved claims the stabbing was in self defense, officials said.
Investigators are still looking in to the matter and interviewing eyewitnesses for more information.
