MISSOULA - Missoula County Public Schools is shuffling several administrative positions that includes the principal of Big Sky High School.
The retirement of Steve McHugh as MCPS Executive Director of Human Resources at the end of the year has created a domino effect.
McHugh will be replaced by long-time MCPS employee Mark Thane, who is currently the Executive Director of Region 1 - and Thane's replacement will be Big Sky High School Principal Trevor Laboski.
Assistant Principal Brian Fortmann will become the interim Principal at Big Sky High School.
MCPS says in a news release that the transition process will begin as soon as possible, and continue through the end of the year. A national search will be conducted starting in February for a new principal.
MCPS Superintendent Alex Apostle said in the news release that, "the transition will be positive and will continue to provide outstanding support and direction in relation to our school district's current programs and focus."
"In keeping with the District's goal to personalize professional growth, this move presents an opportunity for Mark Thane and Trevor Laboski as well as the District," Apostle added.
