BILLINGS- Community attention focused in on heart disease Wednesday morning as emergency personnel responded to Rimrock Mall for a staged cardiac episode.
Billings Clinic's full-scale drill ran through the patient's initial signs, to first response, and concluded with cardiac care at the hospital.
Heart disease is the number one killer of both men and women in the United States and warning signs of a heart attack include pain in the center of the chest, shortness of breath, nausea, and sweating.
Billings Clinic Chest Pain Center Coordinator Susan Amundson is urging people to call 911 within five minutes of the first signs.
"We really want to stress to people, don't wait. If you do have chest pain, make sure that you do call 911. Please don't try to drive yourself to the hospital. Our EMS and ambulance service is specially trained and equipped to treat you on the way and notify the hospital in advance."
February is American Heart Month. Free CPR classes will be held at the Metra Park Rimrock Auto Arena on CPR Saturday, February 18th.
