KALISPELL- A suspect in a shooting that led to a several hour standoff in Hungry Horse earlier this week is still in custody.

Benjamin Davis, 34, of Hungry Horse was arrested at his home on First Street West after police say he fired a handgun several times during an altercation.

Flathead County Sheriff Chuck Curry says that just before 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Davis approached his neighbors then allegedly fired several shots into the ground and air. Davis than barricaded himself in his home and wouldn't cooperate with authorities.

"After repeated attempts to get him to turn a light on and come to the door, we did deploy tear gas into the residence, remotely deployed that into the residence. And that was successful at that point, he did come out, and was taken into custody without an incident," Curry explained.

Davis has been charged with criminal endangerment and assault with a weapon.
