GREAT FALLS- October 18th marks the third annual Teen Driver Safety Day in Montana and the educational emphasis continues to be on distracted driving.
While no one is exempt from the effect of distracting devices in a vehicle, teens are especially susceptible.
"Teens only make up 6.7% of the driving population, but they account for 14% of all fatal car crashes," Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Daniel Arnold noted.
A survey performed by the Montana Office of Public Instruction reports that 16% of teen drivers involved in fatal crashes were distracted while driving.
The MHP encourages adults to use Teen Driver Safety Day to talk with teens about important safe driving habits.
