HELENA- Teenagers from across Montana have been participating in the Junior Police Leadership Academy in Helena all week, and on Saturday they graduated.
The academy works to introduce teens to various aspects of law enforcement, and the different agencies they could potentially make a career with.
Earlier this week the Junior Police Academy cadets in Helena were learning how to drive and make traffic stops, and on Friday, they were training with firearms. The firearms are loaded with simulated ammunition, which is non-lethal and used for training.
The junior cadets learned that when it comes to law enforcement and firearms, using your weapon safely is the most important thing.
The program, which is sponsored by the Montana Association of Police Chiefs, will conclude Saturday with a graduation ceremony.
