3 arrested after downtown Missoula fight escalates

MISSOULA - Three people are facing charges of disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and assaulting Missoula police officers following a fracas in downtown Missoula Tuesday afternoon.

A detective saw a 24-year-old woman fighting with another man at the corner of Higgins and Pine, and when he tried to talk to the woman, she took off. Officers responded to the scene to try and arrest the woman, but she kicked and bit officers while trying to get away.

The situation escalated as they moved her into a patrol car, then others in the group, including two men, argued with officers and ignored orders to move along. After the second suspect was taken to the ground and the third suspect was tased as he tried to run away, additional units kept arriving on scene, trying to keep more people from getting involved in the chaos.

The three were taken to the jail without further incident and they're all facing misdemeanor charges. People who work in the area tell us they've seen more and more problems with disorderly conduct in that part of downtown.
