MISSOULA - Law enforcement officials have been out in full force at one popular local restaurant...all for a good cause.
Missoula police officers and U.S. Forest Service law enforcement officers have been assisting the Red Robin wait staff members on Saturday by serving beverages, cleaning tables, and talking with customers.
The volunteer officers are also going to tables, asking patrons to donate money to Special Olympics Montana.
The Tip-A-Cop donations are in addition to the real servers' tips and the national goal of this year's Red Robin Tip-A-Cop event is to raise $850,000.
Officers from the Yellowstone County Sheriff's Office and MSU Billings also took part in the fundraiser and restaurant employees in Billings say the officers "served" their customers well.
"We're having a good time and we're getting to know some great people that are taking time out today to take part in community service. We've had a really good reaction from the guests in the restaurant and it's going great," said Margie Smith, Red Robin General Manger.
Last year, the Torch Run raised nearly $400,000 for Montana's athletes.
