TROY - A Troy mine could be laying workers off, which might prove devastating to the economy in Lincoln County.
Revett Minerals representatives say it's not clear when they can resume operations at the Troy Mine after rock slides inside parts of the mine, and that could mean they might have to lay off workers.
Lincoln County Commissioner Tony Berget says that's troubling news for Northwest Montana.
"It's definitely a concern. I mean Libby and Troy are so close with the highway between, are really tied at the hip. So what happens in Troy, happens in Libby and what happens in Libby happens in Troy. And you know you're sitting at 20% unemployment, or up there all the time as high as we are, every job is important, every job is of concern," he said.
Berget tells us commissioners are meeting with both the Revett and Montanore Mines companies on Wednesday to discuss this possibility.
