BONNER - Snow, speed and freezing temperatures made for a dangerous Monday night on Western Montana roads.

One driver lost control on a slippery curve on Montana Highway 200 and hit an oncoming truck head-on about three miles east of Bonner, just before 8 p.m.

Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Garrett Van Hoose said that crash caused a second crash as two cars couldn't stop in time.

Both drivers in the first collision went to hospital while both drivers in the second crash were okay. All of passengers appeared to be injury-free as well, including two dogs in the car that lost control.

First responders stalled east and westbound traffic on the two-lane highway for about 30 minutes to clean up debris.

Van Hoose said drivers need to slow down on slick roads. Missoula County road crews showed up with sand to help add traction to the highway.
