BUTTE - A mother and son from Washington were killed in a roll-over accident Friday morning on Interstate 90 just west of Butte.
Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Mark Knutson reported that a 37-year-old man, who was driving, and his 60-year-old mother, who was in the front passenger seat, died at the scene of the crash that occurred just west of the Ramsay exit.
The man's 20-year-old daughter, who was in the backseat, survived the accident with minor injuries.
Knutson said the family was traveling east in a 2002 Suzuki Grand Vitara when the driver lost control of the vehicle about 6:45 a.m. The vehicle went off the highway and rolled into the median.
The mother, who wasn't wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle. The driver, who had his seatbelt on, was partially ejected. The victim's daughter was wearing a seatbelt.
Knutson said the accident occurred because the driver was going too fast for the slick road conditions. The identities of the victims weren't released Friday afternoon pending notification of family members.
