SALMON, ID- Authorities have identified the man who was killed when his motorcycle crashed north of Salmon as a rider from Utah.

Idaho State Patrol says 72-year old Jay Mason of Sandy, Utah was heading north on U.S. 93, about 15-miles north of Salmon in Lemhi County when the wreck happened just before noon Friday.

Troopers say Mason was rounding one of the curves on the winding section of road when he lost control of his 2007 Harley and the bikes ran off the right side of the highway. Mason was thrown from the bike, landing in the road. He was taken to Steele Memorial Medical Center in Salmon where he died later from his injuries.

ISP says Mason was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, which is under investigation.
