HELENA - A group of friends in Helena have banded together to make a big production, and their Iron Cloud Studios is busy filming a vampire movie in Helena this week.
The movie is "Vampire," but according to producer, director, and writer Bryan Ferriter, it's not your average gory vampire movie.
It's a film he conceptualized while studying at Carroll College, and he explained, "It's a very serious human drama. It's got a lot of powerful themes in it. It deals with a lot of things like spirituality, race, and it's just these underlying subtle themes that are just very very prominent."
Ferriter and a group of his friends decided to go out on a limb and produce their own movie, and although the budget is considered low by most standards at $100,000, it is high-dollar for this operation.
With a cast and crew of about 100 people, it is being filmed almost entirely in Helena and Montana.
Armed with only one camera, but lots of grips and even make-up artists, this creative team is hoping to make it big.
"It's a very passionate movie and it's got a lot of, like I said, universal themes in it that will be powerful, so from a creative and business standpoint the investors liked it, and that's why they funded it," noted Ferriter.
And when the film is in all wrapped up, Ferriter said, "Eventually we would love to have an awesome premiere here in Helena.
