HELENA - The snow that fell across parts of Montana on Wednesday night and into Thursday didn't hit Helena, but some nearby communities didn't escape the early-season storm.
At various times Thursday morning, truckers headed over Lost Trail and MacDonald passes were being ordered to chain up because the roads were so slick.
Interstate 15 saw a variety of conditions throughout the day; in the south, drivers were running into some snow on Monida Pass, north to Dillon.
Then more snow, with winds creating limited visibility, stretched from Butte north to near Helena, with chains required on towing units over Boulder Hill.

Late Thursday morning, Sue Pasini sent these two pictures and said: "Boulder is getting a heavy, wet snow today. About 8 inches and still coming down hard."
