BIGFORK- Water is now flowing over causeway road at Echo Lake, forcing the county to shut the road down.
The Flathead County Road Department set up cement barricades on both entrances of the causeway road on Monday with residents telling us that water has been running over the road.
Lake levels have been rising by over 1.5 inches per day for the last few weeks and some lake residents tell us they knew the water would rise high enough to shut down the causeway.
"The water just rose and rose for the last six weeks and it's risen to the point where you just knew it was just going to go over at some point so when it went over it was no surprise," resident Jeff Geiswite said.
Residents living on the west side of the causeway will now have to take a 20 minute detour on La Brant Road and at this time, county commissioners have scheduled no meetings to further discuss a no wake rule on Echo Lake.
