MISSOULA- A Flood Warning is in effect until 6:30 p.m. Tuesday for Kootenai River below Libby Dam. As of 5:00am, the river was at flood stage (27.5').
A Wind Advisory is in effect for the Flathead, Mission, Missoula & Bitterroot Valleys and the Potomac/Seeley Lake Region until 9 p.m. for WSW winds of 20 mph to 30 mph and gusts up to 40 mph.
What's going on today to cause the showers and wind? A cold front moving across the northern Rockies. Showers are mainly confined to northwest Montana, but breezy conditions are being felt everywhere. There's also an increase in fire danger for the southern half of the state, too.
But once again, it'll be a quick disturbance! By Wednesday, another ridge begins to build & will dry us out & brighten us up! Look for mostly sunny skies on the 4th of July holiday with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s.
Thursday into the weekend, the heat will be cranked up even further as we top out well into the 80s & then 90s with lots of sunshine.
We could see some of the hottest temps so far this year at the tail end of the weekend as we approach the low 100s!
