MISSOULA- We've got just two more days of spring left and Mother Nature is sure giving us a reminder with cooler and wetter weather for Monday and Tuesday. But by Wednesday, summer will arrive in full force!
A complex system of low pressures is moving across the Northern Rockies and the Northern Plains today and tomorrow. That will bring us scattered showers for the next 36 hours or so with tapering late in the day on Tuesday. We'll see periods of sunshine mixing in as well as the potential for a few thunderstorms in the afternoon. Wind gusts this afternoon will also range from 20 to 25 mph.
The next couple of days will see a regression in temperatures as a cooler air mass sweeps across the region. We'll see temperatures running 10 to 15 degrees below average with highs only topping out in the upper 50s to low 60s. Overnight lows will drop into the low to mid 40s.
Wednesday is the summer solstice and right on cue, the sunshine and warmer temperatures will arrive. For the later part of the week and into the weekend we'll see partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies. And our highs will be in the upper 60s to low 70s Wednesday and then warming into the 70s and 80s for Thursday and Friday!
