MISSOULA - We have got some big changes on the way as we head into the middle of the work week. But we're starting off with the August heat still in full force across Western Montana. Highs will be in the upper 80s to low 90s today.

We'll see sunshine across Northwest and Central Montana, but a nice mix of sun and clouds will linger across the southwest. We also could see an isolated, dry thunderstorm develop late in the day.

Tuesday will be the day when the changes start to move in. Highs will stay in the upper 80s to low 90s, but we'll track a cold front during the day that will cool us down for the rest of the week.

The front will bring us the chance for showers from Tuesday afternoon into Wednesday morning with the bulk of the rain and storms moving through Tuesday night. And we are talking about measurable rain out of this system and not just dry storms.

The front will move on quickly allow for drier conditions Wednesday afternoon and return to sunny skies by Thursday. But the front will leave behind a much cooler air mass. Highs on Wednesday and Thursday will only reach the upper 70s to mid 80s.

And then by Friday we'll drop into the 70s across the board making for a cooler, more fall like weekend across the Northern Rockies.
